This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") governs your use of the proprietary SPECTER SDR desktop application and documentation (collectively, the "Software"). By affirmatively accepting this Agreement during checkout, purchasing, installing, activating, or using the Software, you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not purchase, install, activate, or use the Software.
1. License grant
After full payment and delivery of a valid license key, Licensor grants you a perpetual, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use one copy of the proprietary Software on one computer at a time, subject to this Agreement. "Perpetual" means the licensed version does not expire. It does not promise that every future feature, major product, external service, operating system, or third-party integration will remain available.
The Software is licensed, not sold. Licensor retains the proprietary Software, interface, branding, documentation, and related intellectual property. Section 9 separately addresses open-source components.
2. Personal and non-commercial use
The standard license covers personal, hobbyist, educational, and other non-commercial use. You may lawfully receive and analyze radio-frequency signals, create recordings and reports, and share your own screenshots, demonstrations, or findings on personal channels. Incidental platform advertising revenue is permitted when SPECTER SDR is not itself the subject of a paid engagement or service.
3. Commercial use
A separate written commercial license is required before using SPECTER SDR for a paid monitoring, investigation, consulting, analysis, or reporting service; a commercial film, television, streaming, or live production; a sponsorship specifically involving SPECTER SDR; integration into a commercial product or managed service; or rental, resale, sublicensing, or commercial distribution. Contact support for commercial licensing.
4. Products and keys
SPECTER SDR and SPECTER Imaging are separately licensed applications. An SSDR key activates only SPECTER SDR. An SPTR key activates only SPECTER Imaging. SPECTER Complete delivers one key for each application, and each application remains subject to its applicable agreement.
5. Activation and transfers
A key may be bound to a one-way machine identifier. It may be active on only one computer at a time. You may use the built-in recovery process or contact support when replacing a computer. You may not publish, sell, share, or use one key on multiple computers. Refunded, charged-back, fraudulent, or materially misused keys may be disabled.
6. Proprietary-software restrictions
Except where applicable law prohibits a restriction, you may not copy or redistribute the proprietary Software; defeat activation or access controls; derive proprietary source code; remove proprietary notices; represent the Software as your own; or use it unlawfully. These restrictions do not apply to an open-source component to the extent its license permits the activity.
7. Lawful radio use
The Software is a receive, analysis, recording, and visualization tool. It does not grant authority to receive, decode, record, retain, or publish a communication. Radio, privacy, wiretap, aviation, communications, and recording laws differ by location and band. You are responsible for determining what you may lawfully monitor and for obtaining required permission. Do not intercept or disclose private, restricted, encrypted, or otherwise protected communications unlawfully.
8. Your content
You retain rights in recordings, reports, spectrum captures, screenshots, session files, and annotations you lawfully create. Licensor does not claim ownership of that content. You are responsible for its collection, security, retention, and use.
9. Open-source components
The Software distribution contains separately licensed open-source components, including the SPECTER SDR Receiver Sidecar. Those components are governed solely by their applicable licenses. Nothing in this Agreement limits rights granted by an open-source license. If this Agreement conflicts with an open-source license for a covered component, the open-source license controls.
Notices, license texts, source archives, and build materials are installed with the Software and available at Open Source Components. The GPL-licensed sidecar and LGPL libraries may be replaced with compatible modified builds. The proprietary Electron interface communicates with the sidecar through a local process protocol and is not offered under the sidecar's GPL license.
10. Optional third-party decoder engines
Decoder Lab can download optional tools such as rtl_433, SatDump, AIS-catcher, or DSD-FME only after you select installation and accept a disclosure identifying the publisher, project, source, and license. These tools are installed separately, remain governed by their own licenses, and are not covered by this Agreement.
11. Hardware and external services
Receivers, drivers, antennas, maps, orbital catalogs, network services, and other third-party products are governed by their providers. Compatibility statements describe tested configurations, not a promise that every hardware revision, driver, computer, signal environment, or external service will work. Review current requirements before purchase.
12. Updates and support
The license includes updates that Licensor chooses to release for the licensed product without a separate charge. Licensor may offer future major products or services separately. Support is provided on a commercially reasonable basis through the published support channels, but no response or resolution time is guaranteed unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
13. Warranty disclaimer
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITH ALL FAULTS. LICENSOR DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND RESULTS. DETECTIONS, CLASSIFICATIONS, MAPS, BEARINGS, ALERTS, AND REPORTS REQUIRE OPERATOR REVIEW AND ARE NOT CERTIFIED CONCLUSIONS. NON-WAIVABLE CONSUMER RIGHTS REMAIN UNAFFECTED.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LICENSOR AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, RECORDINGS, SIGNALS, PROFITS, REVENUE, OPPORTUNITY, OR EQUIPMENT. TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE LICENSE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. LIMITATIONS APPLY ONLY TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
15. Termination
You may terminate by stopping use and uninstalling the Software. Licensor may terminate the proprietary license for a material uncured breach, fraudulent key, refund, chargeback, or activation abuse. Termination does not cancel rights independently granted under an open-source license.
16. General terms
This Agreement and the Terms of Sale are the entire agreement for the proprietary SPECTER SDR license. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains effective. You may not transfer this Agreement without written permission. Licensor may assign it with a transfer of the product business.
This Agreement is governed by Colorado law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer law requires otherwise. Claims may be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Colorado unless applicable law provides another required forum.
